In preparation for a primarily remote fall quarter, we wanted to share some resources to help ensure you have the right technology to set yourself up for success.
To access UCI resources while off-campus, you may need to connect to UCI’s Virtual Private Network or VPN. UCI uses a VPN in order to provide access to important digital resources, databases and software for students remotely. To access some UCI applications and many University Libraries’ resources, you will need to download and install UCI’s Software VPN tool.
To install the Software VPN or access the Web VPN, visit https://www.oit.uci.edu/help/vpn/ and follow the instructions under the appropriate tab.
As a UCI student, you get access to certain software downloads for free.You can access these software downloads by logging in to the OIT Service Portal at https://uci.service-now.com/sp and typing the word “students” in the search box.
Some software programs, normally only available in on-campus computer labs, can now be accessed virtually in your web browser. To view a list of software available in the virtual computer lab and to login, visit https://www.oit.uci.edu/labs/vcl/.
